WHAT IT IS....

  • The Powetri Character Gizmo is a .c4d file.
  • It uses 2D-vector fields combined with meta balls to shape characters.
  • It starts out from a default character.
  • It was built up using Xpresso.
  • The characters can be made editable and exported to FBX.
  • in fact they can be exported to any compliant Cinema 4d output.
  • The characters can easily be rigged at the Mixamo website.
  •  They can be used as a starter for Bodypaint3d or Sculpting.
  • Because of the meta balls it needs a decent modern configuration.
  • For now tested on R15 to R18, no problems expected for R19 .

WHAT IT IS not...

  • It's not a plugin... just open the file and use it.
  • Because of the metaball structure it does not provide you  with high-end perfect edge-looped characters.
  • For Bodypaint3D and Sculpt-UV's it is recommended to retopologize the polygon structure before proceeding the workflow .

For a relatively tiny and lowbudget production I needed a huge amount of background characters and I wanted none of them look the same. So I tried to find a timesaving solution to keep the costs acceptable, but it should never kill creativity. That's when I came up with the idea to merge some metaballs and see what happened. As it progressed it appeared to be a perfect help to discuss new characters with clients, allmost in realtime. And I see it as a real creative bonus that it also works the other way around: people get triggered by the characters and come up with new ideas for scripts and stories"
# USEFUL Matches perfect with Adobe MIXAMO's autorig and animations With the release of Mixamo, rigging and animation has become much easier to handle for lots of starters in the industry. and all though the Powetri Character Gizmo was not built for high-end, edge looped characters, it turns out to be a perfect helper in the production pipeline to set up concept scenes. And if budgets or deadlines threaten to kill creativity the solution can live it up in many occasions. Mixamo is now part of Adobe's Creative Cloud, which is awesome. # EASY Note: Of course you will need Cinema 4D The Powetri Character Gizmo is a clever and intuitive tool that offers 2D Vector Fields to add infinite deformations to a default startup character. Additionally, because the build-up is based on the metaball principles in Cinema 4D, You can literally drop in any object you like to shape the character to you preferences. A tutorial included in the package will briefly show you how. After that you can go and amaze yourself with the most exclusive creatures. # WE'VE TOPPED
